Digital safety cannot exist without inclusion.
On Day 13 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Contento Social Homes highlights a fundamental truth: when we include everyone in digital protection efforts, we ensure safer spaces for women and girls everywhere.
Digital violence does not affect all women equally.
Women from marginalised communities — including Black and minoritised women, LGBTQ+ women, disabled women, migrant women, and young girls — often face higher levels of online harassment, discrimination, hate speech, and targeted abuse.
Inclusion is not optional — it is essential.
Without inclusive policies, programmes, and digital safety strategies, many women remain disproportionately vulnerable to online harm.
To create safer online environments, we must:
- Ensure anti-abuse policies protect all identities
- Acknowledge that digital violence is experienced differently across communities
- Amplify the voices of women who are often overlooked
- Build platforms and systems that are accessible, fair, and protective
- Address intersectional harms such as racism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, and age-based abuse
- Advocate for inclusive laws and community standards
When everyone is included, everyone is protected.
Inclusion strengthens prevention, widens support, and ensures that no woman or girl is left behind in the fight against digital violence.
