Online hate — whether subtle or explicit — harms women and girls every day. It appears through hateful comments, body-shaming, racist or sexist language, threats, targeted harassment, and harmful stereotypes. These behaviours do not just exist online; they impact confidence, mental health, safety, and overall wellbeing.
Promoting respect is more than being polite. It is:
- Valuing women’s voices
- Protecting them from digital violence
- Challenging harmful content
- Encouraging healthy online dialogue
- Holding platforms and perpetrators accountable
When we choose respect, we weaken the culture that fuels digital violence.
When we challenge hate, we protect not just individuals, but entire communities.
Respect must be the norm — not the exception.
