Digital spaces should be places of connection, learning, and community — not danger.
On Day 6 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Contento Social Homes emphasises the right of women and girls to scroll safely and live freely, without fear of online harassment, stalking, exploitation, or abuse.
Every day, women face harmful online behaviours: unsolicited messages, digital intrusion, cyberstalking, impersonation, hacking, and targeted harassment. These experiences can create fear, restrict freedom, and lead to long-term emotional and psychological harm.
Safe online spaces are essential for equality. When women and girls feel protected, they can fully participate in education, employment, advocacy, creativity, and community life — both online and offline.
To promote safer digital environments, we must collectively:
- Encourage responsible online behaviour
- Call out harmful actions and language
- Report abusive accounts and content
- Support survivors of digital abuse
- Advocate for stronger protections and platform accountability
Online safety is not optional — it is a fundamental right.
When women can scroll safely, they can live freely.
